Pakistan's victors may lack strength to oust Musharraf
But Malik said most senior members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, the pro-Musharraf party, had lost their seats. He said those who had won were not so strongly affiliated with the party as to be unacceptable. He said it would take three or four more days of talks to work out a coalition. Sharif and Zardari are due to meet Thursday in Islamabad. Pakistan Peoples Party officials say a coalition between their two parties would be the strongest and best combination. One compelling reason is that Sharif's party is the strongest in the important province of Punjab, Pakistan's most populous. It is likely to form the government there, and so should be part of the national one, too. Any national government that does not have the Punjab government on board is intrinsically unstable, the party officials said.
U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings Testifies Before House ...
Today, U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings testified before the House Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education and related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee to discuss the Department of Educations fiscal year 2009 budget request. Following is her prepared opening statement: Mr. Chairman and members of the committee, thank you for welcoming me here today. All of us agree that in todays competitive world, developing human capital is a top priority. We also know that we have limited resources to invest and that our primary role at the federal level has always been to serve our neediest students, such as those from low income families, those with disabilities, and those learning English as a second language. Accordingly, we must ensure that taxpayer dollars are allocated in the most effective and efficient ways.
EastNets Service Bureau gains popularity as more than 100 banking and ...
This success is a result of careful research of the regional financial community for an outsourcing platform and the managed services to complement it. EastNets Service Bureau is a comprehensive outsourcing platform established at a secure data centre in a fully-owned subsidiary of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone, delivering EastNets solutions to banks and financial organisations throughout the Middle East, North Africa, Balkans, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Hazem Mulhim, CEO, EastNets said: 'The high level of service and security that EastNets solutions offer has brought it a growing number of clients. Today we have 100 customers on the EastNets Service Bureau and are contracted to implement our payment and security solutions through the platform for more customers by the end of the year.' Increasingly high standards imposed by the international banking industry, government legislations and recent security threats, have required banks to increase investments in their technology systems and those supporting it.

Doris Goodwin on Obama's Borrowings
In the days since Gerald Ford's death, so much praise has been heaped on the late president's blanket pardon to his predecessor, Richard Nixon, that you'd think Tricky Dick was Jean Valjean. These magnanimous pronouncements are a preening exercise in cost-free generosity three decades after the fact. They reflect little or no consideration of the merits of the pardon itself. No new information has emerged during the past 32 years that makes Ford's pardon to Nixon look any more justifiable; indeed, what facts have dribbled forth make it seem less so. (More on these later.) Nor can the pardon plausibly be considered an example of the bipartisan spirit for which Ford is justly, if too extravagantly, praised by Washington insiders. The pardon may have had the long-term effect of tamping down partisan warfare between Democrats and Republicans over a possible criminal trial (obstruction of justice would have been the likeliest charge), but when a Republican short-circuits prosecution of a fellow Republican, you can't call that bipartisanship.
Has reaction to the Archbishop's Sharia law comments been Islamophobic ...
Furthermore, would he expect Muslim countries to adopt our laws so that we, a minority of Christians feel more at home there? I think not. This has nothing to do with Islamaphobia, it has to do with our ability to stand up for our own Western, Christian culture, ideals and law. If this is not good enough for our Muslim residents then they need to find somewhere else to live. Britain for centuries has been seen as a country with one of the finest legal systems in the world - what exactly are we doing even thinking of compromising it? I would suggest the Archbishop does a bit of research on the implications of Sharia law for women specifically in the areas of marriage and property, before he welcomes it so whole-heartedly. .
The Visionary
As I said, it is differentbut we will have advertising campaigns, TV commercials, people talking on TV to explain our program. We will use modern methods for campaign. I do not want to call them western, they are international [methods]. Do you think the National Front for Change represents a real threat to the NDP in the parliamentary race? This is an internal issue for opposition parties whether to run individually or form a coalition. It is up to them. This is not going to affect or change any of our plans. As I said we are taking these elections seriously and we are going to work very hard to win every seat. I do not really have to comment on what they [opposition parties] are doing. I will be happy to see more opposition members in the parliament and I will be happier to see the NDP maintaining a majority in parliament.
HANNA: A CITY'S HAVEN
You'd also have 20 miles of trails that wind through one of the largest pieces of true Coastal Hardwood Hammock left on the Southeastern coast. Why not throw in a 60-acre freshwater lake where speckled perch bite year-round and 10-pound largemouth bass get caught by kids? While you're wishing, add over 100 species of seasonally indigenous birds, including the white pelican, belted kingfisher and sharp-skinned hawks. Don't forget possums, raccoons, armadillos, squirrels, marsh rabbits and an elusive bobcat or two. The truth is you do own the parcel of land described above if you live in the City of Jacksonville. It's Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, owned and operated by the city. And as taxpayers and residents, it's yours. It was the fishing that called me to Hanna Park. The name has come up almost weekly, while writing fishing reports or forecasts for the newspaper.
Boomi Releases Fully On-Demand Integration Service, Fundamentally ...
Boomi On Demand offers the first complete integration solution delivered in an on-demand model, breaking the barrier to SaaS adoption for companies of all sizes and marking the end of the software approach to integration. After a successful pilot with Boomi, we're excited to roll this solution out in a production environment, and we anticipate a substantial ROI." Partners Speak Out About Boomi On Demand In addition to the positive feedback from the beta customer community, numerous partners have begun working with Boomi On Demand to meet their customers' integration needs.
