Name the Catch finalists

Your readers obviously have more mental capacity than your so-called "panel of experts" at the Daily News. The significance of the Super Bowl catch was the fact that Tyree used his head to secure the ball - this quality should definitely be prominent in the catchphrase. The only entry in your top five that suggests this is "The Hat Trick", but this title makes every educated sports fan think of hockey. The obvious winning choice is the "Cranium Cling" Catch (submitted by me - February 28, 2008; 11:58 a.m. - too bad you guys didn't get past the first 100 entries). The word "cranium" is a unique, appealing synonym for "head" and the word "cling" is a perfect word to describe the fashion in which Tyree secured the ball as he went down (it also brings to mind the phrase, "cling to victory" which is also perfectly suitable to the situation).

Interview With Mike Huckabee; Interview With Mike McConnell

Last night you tried your hand at "Saturday Night Live," during the "Weekend Update" segment. I want to play a little segment of the show. And then we'll talk about it on the other side.

Let's listen.

HUCKABEE: All right.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SETH MEYERS, "SNL WEEKEND UPDATE ANCHOR": Even if you won every remaining unpledged delegate, you would still fall 200 delegates short.

(LAUGHTER)

HUCKABEE: Wow. Seth, that was an excellent explanation.

(LAUGHTER)

But I'm afraid that you overlooked the all-important superdelegates. Don't forget about them.

MEYERS: Well, I won't forget about them. But the superdelegates are only in the Democratic primaries.

Pride in a pioneering dozen

Explore the role of volunteerism in community affairs.

Start a scrapbook, poster or bulletin board display featuring African-Americans who have made a contribution to their communities. Find pictures, articles or editorials in the newspaper. You may want to divide the display into six sections and label the following: (a) Government (b) Education (c) Social Services (d) Civil Rights (e) Neighborhoods (f) Environment. When you discover an individual that interests you, do further research about their background and add the information to the collection. 5. Character education and service learning.

If you have done volunteering (service learning) in your school or community, share your personal experiences and observations with your class. If you have not done any service learning, interview the director of a nonprofit agency or organization who uses volunteer help.

PacificaRiptide.com. New local online outlet working in collaboration ...

Pacifica Riptide is a volunteer-run Web site for local news and opinion. It started up a year ago when a group of activists, fresh off their election victory over Measure L, decided that the community needed an Internet base for sharing information. After consulting with several media and technology experts, including Pacifican Larry Rosenstein and Coastsider.com's Barry Parr, we chose Six Apart's Typepad blogging software, which is easy, intuitive, and relatively cheap for a bunch of amateurs to use.

Riptide welcomes contributions of "hot stories, cool pix, and cold cash to keep us afloat," according to the site. "We celebrate Pacifica's natural wonders, green hillsides, open spaces, coastal and marine life, and enterprising people. Our environment and economy are interdependent, natural forces and market forces, like ocean tides and waves."

Anyone can post a story or photo to editor@pacificariptide.com.

Is Executive Hubris Ruining Companies?

The iPod experience highlights how world-class innovators are always going to have technical experts who know how to find, as well as develop, innovations. By contrast, the 'not invented here syndrome' with its premise that in-house innovations will trump outside ones, is a hallmark of hubris.

It's also easy to overlook how hubris can interfere with efficient manufacturing. Take the Segway, Dean Kamen's self balancing, two wheel scooter that riders operate while standing. With all the hype, Kamen built a 75,000 square foot manufacturing facility in New Hampshire that is setup to produce at least 40,000 units a month. This was based on his estimate that the firm could capture 0.1% of the global population of 6 billion people and sell 6 million Segways each year. Weeks later, the Segway was forced into an embarrassing recall of its entire installed base of 23,500 scooters.

Clinton and Obama remain in tough fight as McCain coasts

All of Hillary's business and political success has been predicated on her husband's political position at the time. The one time we all know Hillary was put in charge of something (by her President husband no less), Universal Health Care, she, thanks be to God, failed miserably. As far as I see, she has no rhetoric and no results.

Having Hillary as a woman President for a change is not change enough.

ECU Silver Confirms Eastern Extension of Terneras Vein

The table shows assay results for the three series of chip samples, the average of these chip samples and the average grade diluted over a one metre thickness, using nil values for the diluted host rock. The chip samples averaged 0.17 metres grading 7.11 g/t gold, 1,865 g/t silver, 13.01% lead and 9.04% zinc. Also shown in the table is a metallurgical sample for the entire 12 metre cut taken over a one metre total width which yielded 3.4 g/t Au, 1,095 g/t Ag, 5.66% Pb and 6.06% Zn.

This confirmation of the strike and dip of the Terneras vein is consistent with the drill intercept reported October, 16th 2007, where 0.30 metres grading 2.70 g/t gold, 2,097 g/t silver, 0.55 % copper, 17.95% lead and 11.57% zinc was reported in hole SJ 14-02 approximately 256 metres below this recent cross-cut.
