Fancy a sickie? See your chemist
It's amazing how many sickies are attached to weekends and public holidays.I was brought up, that you always went to work even if sick, then went home if it got worse. Often, it just got better as my body exercised. NO sickies on Gallipoli, or at Tobruk, or along the Kokoda Trail, or in Vietnam - unless you were totally incapacitated !Back then, BLUDGER was the worst insult you could call a bloke, now it's become a comical byword. Agree (0) Alert moderator Tc: 01 Feb 2008 9:46:01am It all sounds a very good idea on paper, but human nature being what it is I feel (know) that it will be abused by a proportion of the public and also chemists.
New York Philharmonic's 'sing song diplomacy' in North Korea
The 130-member orchestra is scheduled to arrive Monday and perform Tuesday night before an audience of high-ranking North Korean officials. Eighty journalists will accompany the musicians to a country that is almost always closed to the outside world. The performance is scheduled to be broadcast live on North Korean state television. For North Koreans, watching an American orchestra perform in their own country will be unprecedented – and politically dissonant. State-controlled media have demonized the United States since the Korean War. Reports from Pyongyang suggest that anti-American propaganda is being pulled from the streets in anticipation of the orchestra's rendition of George Gershwin's "An American in Paris" and Antonin Dvorak's New World Symphony, as well as both the North Korean and American national anthems.
7 Questions for Cutting-Edge Game Developer Kellee Santiago
Neither Jenova nor I came to USC thinking we were going to develop video games. My background was theater. It wasn’t until we were both in the Interactive Media masters program that we became inspired to make games. A couple of our professors have an inspiring philosophy of play-centric game designs—using games to communicate emotions and stories in different ways. How is that different from more traditional gaming? Game makers know how to make people feel excited. They know how to make them feel cool, how to make them feel frustrated and challenged. Those are four emotions in a huge spectrum of human emotions. Look at the way people respond to other mediums, like film, literature and TV. They talk about how something makes them feel—"This movie was really sad," or "That was a powerful moment." Games today are more feature-based.
The Wisdom of the Chaperones
These pages look a lot like Google News search results—a collection of news articles and blog posts from the past day that match your interest. The matches aren't based on exact keywords, but rather on a more complex word-math algorithm that can figure out that a post about Carly Smithson matches my American Idol interest. Persai won me over immediately because it's an anti-social network: It ignores everything and everyone on the Internet except for what I want to read. Rather than presume I'm like other people, Persai tracks my unique reading habits and, more importantly, remembers what I don't want. Telling the program I don't like something is as simple as clicking a red X labeled "reject." Persai notes which news articles and blog posts I despise, then filters out others like them by doing more math on what words show up in the articles and where they appear.
Shemorry collection of Williston history to be on display
"What we have is a lifetime of the history of the Williston, both in written documents and in pictures. I doubt there is any community in the country that has anything like it," said Dr. Dean Strinden. He is referring to the Bill Shemorry Photo Collection. Strinden is a life-long friend of the multi-faceted journalist who is a story in of himself.About 2,150 of Shemorry's estimated 35,000-picture collection goes up for display Monday at the Williston State College Library, thanks to multiple entities pooling their resources and funding. The collection spans some seven decades of history through his eyes and camera lens of this journalist, and before. In the late journalist's honor, the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Williston State College Foundation, will be hosting the Bill Shemorry Family 10 a.m.

Mosso's utility hosting turns Impressionistic
As web-based, on-demand computing continues to grow in popularity, there will be plenty of twisting and turning as companies feel the market out. Pricing, of course, is at the top of the service provider's minds — and we're bound to see a fair share of alternative cost models. .
