Free agent possibilities abound for Rams

The Rams are about to undergo a massive and much-needed overhaul.

When the free agent marketplace opens Friday, this franchise will be ready to buy. Jay Zygmunt has cleared ample space under the $116 million salary cap.

That's a good thing, too, since this 3-13 team has many holes to fill. A normal NFL team turns over a third of the roster every year, but the change could be more dramatic at Rams Park.

Here are the latest developments:

* Zygmunt managed to fix Leonard Little's cap number, so the team didn't have to trim its only real pass-rushing threat. Little appears to be recovering fully from toe surgery. Rams management believes he has at least one more productive season in him.

This is critical, since the team has so many gaps elsewhere in the lineup.

CHS assistant principal dies in morning wreck

Pritchett broke the news and discussed efforts to meet anticipated counseling needs in a brief meeting with teachers and staff before the start of school. Teachers shared the news of the wreck with students at the start of first period. Social studies teacher and head basketball coach Jeff Cody taught with Findley and described her as a professional who was dedicated to CHS and the students she served."She was a true servant, and that's what made her special," Cody said. "She will be missed."Students also were also shaken by Findley's death. "I think there's a lot of shock," said Student Council President Will Snider. "Nobody expects something like this. She gave us so much support. She was always nice. I never heard a bad word spoken about her among the student body, which is pleasing, considering her role as an assistant principal, which is a tough position."She was always funny and extremely nice to every one of us.

This week, along with our co-counsel, EFF filed a motion for judgment on the pleadings asking a U.S. District Court judge to throw out a copyright infringement suit brought by talk show host Michael Savage against the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Savage sued CAIR in December, alleging that CAIR infringed the copyright in his show when it posted on its web site brief excerpts from Savage's radio program in order to criticize Savage's remarks. Savage also added a federal racketeering claim stemming from that alleged copyright infringement.

CAIR's use of the radio program excerpts is, of course, protected under the fair use doctrine. The Copyright Act specifically makes clear that third parties may utilize copyrighted works for purposes of commentary or criticism, as CAIR did in this case.
